I have to use a usb-c to usb-c cable from pc to monitor which powers the other 2 type a usb ports. Look at the diagram in the LG users manual for your monitor. The tb3 port has a usb-c connector and it actually uses dp 1.2 alternate mode usb so it should work. Turn off hdmi ultra HD deep color Enable DP 1.2 in the monitor osd.

Transfer data easily from/to your LG monitor with the help of a USB. But what if your LG monitor may have recognized the USB drive once you attached it, but have been unable to access the data on it? I know that it has a USB-C port that displays video but I'm usually using a HDMI dongle that I have for the MacBook. The problem is, the USB ports that were supposedly made to connect keyboards and mouses are not working. I plug the computer via the dongle to the macbook but when I hit a keyboard via the USB port of the monitor, nothing happens.
